Dear M & F
Just received your letter & parcel as I have only been back from Southborough about & hour.  I passed my firing test alright you will see the score from sheet enclosed.  Will you wash the few things I am sending home & return as soon as poss, also send me two more thick shirts & 1 pair short pants with a few more cheap handkerchiefs as we must be prepared to go abroad within from 8-24 hours notice, not much chance for leave.  Had a nice time with the girls &c & fine billet at Southborough.  I was introduced to a sailor rescued from the [Hoye?] he was in the Heligoland Bight.
