Regiment [2?]
British Expeditionary Force

Dear M & F
Receive your three letters yesterday, took quite a time to read through them.  Half our Bat: went up to the trenches yesterday and the other half should be going up today so you can think of me Sunday night having a nice time.  The ground here is covered with snow & the streams round about are frozen.  Tell Kel to keep where he is & feel satisfied.  We have been billeted in a barn with big guns only a few hundred yards from us & when they fire the earth seems to shake.  Don’t worry about me as I am quite well and not fed up yet. Kind regards to everybody.  Love to Ethel and selves.

Your Affectionate Son
Jack.
We are mixed with regulars most of them are nice chaps.
