My Dear Mother & Father
Received your letter yesterday glad to hear all are well at home. Had a letter from Jack Herbert yesterday he tells me that he’s going over to see you. Hope Mrs Paterson is quite well again give her my kind regards when you see her. Where was Alf King wounded pleased to hear he’s nearly well now. I received your Reg. letter a few days ago & acknowledged receipt of same in my last letter to you. We go up to the trenches again Sunday for a week hope the rain will keep off & the frosty weather set in as that is preferable to the wet. Hope Ethel is getting on alright & getting into form with “Alice” [Some musical notes drawn] for when I return (Xmas 1920)?  If you send me fruit &c for Xmas label the parcel socks &c & then no one is likely to win it en route. Well cheer ho!  Kind regards to neighbours.  Love to all at home

Your affect Son
